About Me

Mark Tufo is the creator of the Zombie Fallout series, which feature everyman hero Mike Talbot.

Mark Tufo was born in Boston Massachusetts. He attended UMASS Amherst where he obtained a BA and later joined the US Marine Corp. He was stationed at Parris Island SC, Twenty Nine Palms CA, and Kaneohe Bay HI.

After his tour of duty, he went into the Human Resources field with a worldwide financial institution and has since gone back to college at CTU to complete his Masters.

He wrote the first installment of the Indian Hill Trilogy whilst in college. This manuscript was stored in his garage until July 2009, when he published it on Kindle at his wife's insistence.

At the time of this writing, Mark has since written the extremely popular Zombie Fallout series comprised of six serial novels, one prequel novella (Dr. Hugh Mann), and a related side story following the plague from the point of view of a zombie retaining human sentience (Timothy); two additional installments of the popular Indian Hill series; a metaphysical horror novel (The Spirit Clearing); two books following the trials of domesticated pets in the time of a zombie plague (The Book of Riley 1 & 2); a young adult version of Indian Hill entitled The Ravin (with a YA version of Indian Hill 2 scheduled for release in 2013); and a contribution to a compilation of zombie short stories (Undead Tales).

Mark's books are generally written in a first person narrative style and crossover into several genres including horror, science fiction, and comedy. All of his books make some reference to the recurring semi-autobiographical character Michael Talbot and usually include some interesting insights into the real history of this unique author.

Mark Tufo lives in Maine with his wife, three kids and two English bulldogs.

As of September 2012, Mark's first film, Zombie Fallout is in pre-production with Illuminandi Media.

  1. Trying to make a film based on your books is probably a mistake.
The books are great. Bought every one.
But there is no way they will be adapted satisfactory to film.
I hope I will be proven wrong naturally.

    1. Strongly disagree! For all of the fans just to see the characters brought to life will be success enough. The fact that rights were purchased and the first film is already in production seems to say that the PROFESSIONALS think it is FAR FROM A "MISTAKE". CONGRATS Mr. TUFO!!!

  6. I would love to see Zombie Fallout come to film. Just promise to not take out the beginning scene when he steps in the dog crap. It would not be right without it! I personally always picture Raymond as Mike. :-)

  7. Semper Fi, brother. Helluva book series you got going there. Who knows, I might stumble across you in CTU if you're still going there. ;) If not then I'll see ya when we regroup in the great hereafter. Best wishes in all things.

  9. I believe Ryan Reynolds (the guy from the live-action Green Lantern movie And Waiting) would be the best Michael Talbot because of his smart ass attitude.

  11. Hi Mark
I have loved all your books, I look forward to Indian Hill 5, Lycan Fallout 3 and Zombie fallout 9. Plus anything else but please keep Indian Hill going soon. I have to ask if anyone else noticed. I am rereading actually listening via audia book and congrats to Shaun for his auditory. He is great. The problem bothering me is minor but a bother anyways. In Zombie Fallout 3, chapter 40 Alex's story I was shocked to hear Mrs. Denough called Mrs. Devereaux. Has anyone else noticed this.
Anyway thanks for all the books I love your style and now so does my oldest son.
    Thanks again

    2. I had figured Tommys psychic abilities are what let him implant those ideas into Marta but I can't figure out how Dennis could have died of diabetes but show up in book 7. Don't get me wrong I'm glad he's alive but then who was it that died of diabetes?

    1. Hey Gardenwife, you would be correct in the alternate realities. I do have a plan in place to at some point tie everything together (or go insane trying) we'll see which happens first. :)

  16. So yeah I love your books!! I'm current on the Zombie Fallout series and on Book 2 of Indian hill and will eventually read all of your books. I'm sure someone has already asked but These series are all separate right? I mean or in alternate universes for this to all happen to Mike Talbot.

  17. I love love love the fallout series, Mike Talbot is a genius creation. I love all the characters and there interaction sometimes has me doubled in laughter. Mike is THE best anti hero . I also love deaneux what a woman can't help but have a sneakin admiration for the nicotine addicted witch. When's fallout 10 out? My withdrawal symptoms are gettin as bad as deaneux without nicotine for an hour.

  18. Love love love zombie fallout and Mike Talbot and co, even that old nicotine raddled hag deaneux. From the first few pages and "sir licks slot" tonguing mikes peephole I have been hooked. Never laughed ( and cried) so much at a book. When's fallout 10 out ? Got serious withdrawal symptoms, worse than deneaux without nicotine for a day. Also loving Lycian fallout to
